Infoterra - Business Development Manager-Defence

Infoterra is one of the worlds leading Geo-information companies providing data, products, systems/software and consultancy to a wide range of markets. As a result of our recent success, we are now looking to recruit a Business Development Manager in Defence.

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and winning new business opportunities within the Defence & Security sector covering both ERDAS Software Sales and Infoterra Spatial Services. The person will become the primary point of contact at Infoterra in this sector and will have first class communication and interpersonal skills.
The successful person will help grow Infoterra’s defence business in the UK and Ireland with a particular emphasis on the software sector.


Infoterra Group provides a wide range of services and so it is expected that this individual may soon become more of an Account Manager as new client relationships are formed and developed.

Main Responsibilities:


•To secure orders, meeting or exceeding set targets
•To work closely with the team to identify new business opportunities, especially within the agreed group of Infoterra clients/opportunities nominated as accounts
•To represent Infoterra in a positive manner with existing and potential customers and to influence customers to choose imaging software products
•To maintain a clear and effective route for communication of business opportunity status to the Business Unit Manager
•To maintain all necessary records within the designated customer relationship software
•Ensure a good and effective working relationship with the Sales/Technical Managers.

Main Duties


•To write or review bids as required
•To create customer awareness of ERDAS software and Infoterra's capability and strengths in the defence sector primarily within the agreed account base
•To identify and acquire intelligence about possible new opportunities for Infoterra.
•To undertake customer facing meetings involving both software demonstrations and promotion of spatial services
•Attendance at appropriate conferences and exhibitions
•Occasional international travel
•To identify and acquire knowledge about Infoterra's competitors.
•To lead the prosecution of opportunities that meet Infoterra's strategy, especially within the nominated account base
•To provide advice on strategies to be adopted with respect to identified accounts
•Maintain and support all marketing databases and information systems for the appropriate business sector
•Produce reports, statistics and analysis of appropriate business areas as required by the Defence or Software Unit Managers (when required)

 

Skills

At least 5 years experience of sales to military clients
•Understanding defence procurement process
•Understanding of ERDAS software would be a significant benefit
•Client development skills
•Excellent communication skills
•Self starter
•Team player
