RSS Feeds
Use RSS Feeds to update your own home page in MyYahoo, Microsoft Live or Google with information on DSA News and Events
You can now be kept informed of latest DSA news or events by adding RSS feeds to your Yahoo, Microsoft Live or Google home pages. Go to the preference for the these sites and add an RSS or syndication feed as follows.
To add DSA news insert http://dsa.rsms.ac.uk/news/RSS
To add DSA events insert http://dsa.rsms.ac.uk/events/RSS
When new news or events are added you should see an entry in your MyYahoo or Google portal, which you can click to open the relevant item. You do need to be patient, as I have followed good practice and only allowed the feeds to update on a daily basis to avoid clogging up the network.
If you want other useful feeds, such as BBC news then look for RSS on the appropriate website. A good example can be found for the Ordnance Survey news using http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/rss/news.xml
You should find your browser recognises that RSS is available so that a RSS button will appear allowing you to add the feed directly to you own home page of the browser without having to type in the address.
More information on Really Simple Syndication (RSS) can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(file_format) and http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/help/rss/default.stm
