ESRI (UK)

ESRI has extensive links with the Ministry of Defence, particularly with various parts of the
Defence surveying community dealing with geospatial matters. In recognition of this ESRI Inc
and ESRI (UK) have kindly agreed to sponsor the Defence Surveyors’ Association, providing
information and articles for inclusion on the Association’s website and in Ranger Magazine. The
Association very much welcomes ESRI’s involvement in its affairs, as the Company has provided
substantial support to the UK Armed Forces for many years.

AGM and visit to Brooklands, the bithplace of British Motor Sport and Aviation

This year our Annual General Meeting and Award Ceremony will be held at the famous Brooklands Motor Racing Circuit/Museum near Weybridge in Surrey.
 
The AGM will take place in the Bluebird Room commencing at 12 noon to be followed by the presentation of the DSA Annual Awards, before taking an excellent two course lunch in the Bluebird Room consisting of: -
 

Fish Pie (Possibly the best you have ever tasted)

Served with a selection of fresh vegetables

After lunch we have arranged a guided tour around the exhibits in the Museum of British Motor Racing and to learn about the racing legends of a bygone era.
 
The Brooklands Museum is also home to 30 historic aircraft, including the R for Robert WWll Bomber and the fully restored Delta-Golf Concorde, in which you can experience simulated take off and landing (which is at an extra charge of £4).
 
If time permits you can visit (Free of charge) the fantastic Mercedes-Benz World, which is adjacent to the Brooklands museum, where you will be able to view a selection of MB cars, including some of the earliest models to those in the latest range.
 

The total cost of the day at Brooklands, including lunch is £28 per person

DGI 2009

 

DGI 2009 is Europe’s largest annual gathering dedicated to high-level discussion addressing the major challenges of the defence and government geospatial intelligence community will take place on January 19th -22nd at the QEII centre in London. 

 

Bringing together Heads of Geospatial Intelligence, GIS, Remote Sensing, Operations, and Imagery and Analysis, the conference provides a unique forum to discuss and debate the development of geospatial intelligence capabilities across the globe.

The conference will address the use of geospatial information in scenarios such as international conflicts, humanitarian disasters, crime, security, border control, arms treaty monitoring and global climate change.
